Featuring an all-star cast, Haunted Mansion is due for release in July.

Look alive, foolish mortals! Behold the teaser trailer and poster for Disney’s comically creepy adventure Haunted Mansion, which will appear in theaters later this year. Released courtesy Walt Disney Studios, this first look at Haunted Mansion brings the beloved Disney theme park ride to life…again and introduces a mother and son who find themselves tormented by all manner of ghosts and ghouls. Check out the trailer for Haunted Mansion below.

Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, Haunted Mansion is about a single mom named Gabbie and her 9-year-old son, who are looking to start a new life. Moving into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, they quickly find the house to be far more than they bargained and are soon haunted by supernatural squatters.

Desperate for help, they contact a motley crew to help them rid them of their tormenters, including a priest, a widowed scientist-turned-failed-paranormal expert, a French Quarter psychic, and a crotchety historian who must band together to help exorcise the mansion.

This is not the first time that Disney has attempted to bring The Haunted Mansion to the big screen. Two decades ago (doesn’t time fly?) the studio released The Haunted Mansion from director Rob Minkoff and starring Eddie Murphy, Terence Stamp, Wallace Shawn, Marsha Thomason, and Jennifer Tilly. Also finding a group trapped inside the titular spooky abode, The Haunted Mansion was met with largely negative reviews from critics, with Murphy recently stating that he did not want to bring his “baggage” to the upcoming reboot as his version “wasn’t very good” and he does want to be responsible for “stinking up the new one.”

Certainly, based on the trailer, it looks like Haunted Mansion could be a vast improvement on its predecessor.
