Stranger Things alum Noah Schnapp stars in new thriller film The Tutor, who takes obsession too far.
While Noah Schnapp has been keeping himself plenty busy still over in Hawkins, another new project of his has him obsessing over the stranger things (yes) about his new tutor. Per a report from Collider, a new poster and official trailer have dropped to give a firsthand look at Schnapp’s eerie new thriller The Tutor, which is set to premiere in theaters on March 24.
The Tutor is a new thriller feature from Vertical Entertainment, with Jordan Ross (Thumper) as director. Ryan King serves as writer and co-executive producer alongside Luke Daniels, Allan Pao, Kyle Stroud, Ekaterina Baker, Greg Thompson, Nadine De Barros, Rick Sasner, David Gendron, and Ali Jazayeri. Starring in the film are Noah Schnapp (Stranger Things), Victoria Justice (A Perfect Pairing), Garrett Hedlund (Tulsa King), Jonny Weston (Benjamin), Kabby Borders (Secrets in the Woods), Joseph Castillo-Midyett (Among the Beasts), and many more.
Schnapp Becomes a Tutor’s Worst Nightmare
The premise of the film revolves around an in-demand tutor named Ethan (Hedlund), whose gigs often cater to the most elite of the East Coast. The trailer opens with ominous yet elegant instrumentals as Ethan accepts his newest job, which offers a staggering $2,500 a day to tutor Jackson (Schnapp), the teenage son of a billionaire who resides in a remote and grandiose New York estate. Shortly after Ethan begins working with Jackson, Ethan attempts to pry about Jackson’s family that seems largely absent, at least from what we can see. Jackson awkwardly rebuffs his questions and in turn starts to grow increasingly intrusive about Ethan’s family. While Ethan tries to do a personal investigation into Jackson’s family, Jackson in turn starts showing up in strange and uncomfortable places, borderline stalking Ethan and his pregnant wife (Justice). As tension mounts, Jackson’s obsession poses a greater and greater threat to Ethan, leading him to figure out what’s really going on with Jackson before things get even worse.
The official poster for the film evokes a similar unsettling vibe, featuring both Ethan and Jackson poised over the grand estate while visibly at odds with one another. Ethan looks with uncertainty towards the audience while Jackson looks off in the distance, as if contemplating his next move. This is Schnapp’s first stab at a villain-type role, and just from the trailer he appears to excel tremendously.
The Tutor comes to theaters on March 24.
