Let Me Go (The Right Way) is a psychological thriller short film that’s being helmed by the children of some legendary storytellers. Directing is Destry Allyn Spielberg, Steven Spielberg‘s daughter who has also been making her mark alongside her father in the director’s chair. She had this to say about the mindset she used to bring this new project to life:

“When I am building my vision for movie sets I look to the characters for inspiration. I like to ask the question, ‘what would feel unsettling or settling to the protagonist and how would they feel sitting in That space for long periods of time.’ I think environment is a wonderful thing to play with, especially for our actors.”

Spielberg is also co-writing alongside Owen King (The Stand), the son of acclaimed novelist Stephen King. Producers include Josh Kesselman (The Great), Oliver Brooks (Heathers: The Musical), Gilana Lobel (Russian Doll), and Michael Pitt (Lisey’s Story). Starring in the production is Hopper Penn and Brian d’Arcy James who are both also appearing drama thriller Devil’s Peak. Pooya Mohseni (Entanglement) and Gabe Fazio (The Good Nurse) also join the cast.

A Young Veteran Struggles to Keep a Grip on Reality

The teaser trailer takes us into what looks like a therapy session between a young war veteran named Aiden and his psychiatrist Dr. Kemp (Brian d’Arcy James). He struggles to describe what he feels on a daily basis, symbolizing his constant anxiety to a clanging radiator and a hallucinating a woman on the bus who whispers in his ear. However, the psychiatrist does not seem to be on the same page and appears to undermine Aiden’s problems rather than remedy them. The trailer cleverly ensnares the viewer in a similarly uncomfortable headspace alongside Aiden, who visibly spirals further and further and questions reality around him.

Let Me Go (The Right Way) will premiere exclusively on the horror-heavy Youtube Channel ALTER on March 7. Check out the teaser trailer below.
