Redmi has just demoed its 300W charging tech that can fully charge a phone in only 5 minutes. The device that was demoed has a 4,100mAh battery, in case you were wondering.

Realme will announce its smartphone with 240W charging today at MWC

That being said, once this makes its way to actual consumer phones, it will become the fastest charging available. The timing of this demo is quite interesting, as Realme is about to announce the world’s fastest charging phone today.

The device in question is the Realme GT3, which will offer 240W charging. This is the same phone as the Realme GT Neo5 240W which launched in China a while back.

Realme’s 240W charging can fully charge a 4,600mAh battery in only 9 minutes. So it’s slower than the charging Redmi demoed, but not by much. Considering these crazy charging speeds, the differences are really not that big.

Many people would agree that 100W charging is astoundingly fast, let alone 240W or 300W. In any case, Redmi demoed its charging on a modified version of the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition.

Redmi has demoed its 300W charging in China

You may think that this demo was shown at MWC 2023 which is currently going on, but no. Redmi actually did it in China, and published the results via its official Weibo page. The demo video has been reshared by a tipster on Twitter, and you can check it out below.

We are not sure when will this charging make its way to consumer phones. It may happen later this year, or next year, though we’re only guessing. It seems like Redmi is still testing it.

While we wait for Redmi to get it ready, we can enjoy Realme’s 240W offering. Well, it’s actually OPPO’s charging, as this is SuperVOOC we’re talking about, and Realme is OPPO’s sub-brand.

Realme will show off the GT3 handset with 240W charging today, in Barcelona. The event will kick off at 4 PM CET / 3 PM BST / 10 AM EST / 7 AM PST.
