Following some major setbacks in the past few weeks, Reddit has recently introduced a new search feature that will allow users to search comments within a post on desktop, iOS and Android devices. This update aims to improve the user experience by making it easier for users to find the answers they are looking for without having to scroll or use the “Cmd-F” or “Ctrl-F” functions on a post page.
Previously, Reddit only allowed users to search comments across the entire platform, with the addition of the “comments” tab in the search bar. While this was a significant improvement, navigating lengthy and complex Reddit threads was still challenging. However, with the latest update, users can now search for comments within a specific post, making it even more convenient to find the information they need.
“No more long scrolling sessions — quickly get to the parts of the conversation you’re looking for and jump in where you want,” reads the company’s blog post.
New features to improve the experience
Over the past few months, the company has been working hard to improve its search functionality. In addition to searching comments within a post, Reddit introduced text search within images, allowing users to search for memes with text in them. The platform also overhauled its search engine algorithm to provide more relevant subreddits for most searches.
Furthermore, Reddit has improved its autocomplete feature to make it easier to search for communities, and browsing through video search results has been enhanced by enabling users to swipe up and down to navigate between video results on iOS and Android. The platform now also allows users to mute entire communities with “community muting.”
These new updates and features should make Reddit a more user-friendly platform, and it’s evident that the company is trying to improve the user experience. To try out these new features, users can visit the Reddit website or download the app for iOS or Android.
