A report from December last year claimed that the iPhone SE 4 is canceled. At that point, Apple seemingly canceled the production of the device. That info was provided by Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known analyst, and the same source now shared some fresh info. The iPhone SE 4 may not be canceled after all.

The iPhone SE 4 may not be canceled after all, as it’s allegedly coming next year

The tipster now says that the iPhone SE 4 has been revived, and that it will use the iPhone 14’s chassis. That basically means that it will include a 6.1-inch OLED display too. That would be a huge improvement compared to the iPhone SE 3. Not only was that display rather low-res, but it was also an LCD panel.

Having said that, the display for the iPhone SE 4 will be manufactured by BOE, it would seem. That’s not all, though. This may become the first iPhone to use Apple’s in-house developed 5G baseband chip. That chip will allegedly be made using a 4nm process, and support Sub6 5G only.

So, based on this, Apple will basically test this chip out in this phone, in a way, as some reports suggested. Everything should be fine, but if issues arise, at least it will be on the company’s most affordable device.

Apple is expected to kick off the production of this device in the first half of next year. We don’t know when exactly will it go on sale, but the iPhone SE 3 launched in March 2022. So, it could happen around that time in 2024.

This would represent a huge change for the iPhone SE lineup

This will be a huge change for the iPhone SE lineup. The iPhone SE, SE 2, and SE 3 all used the iPhone 8 chassis. They all had a home button, very thick bezels, a single camera, and a small 4.7-inch display.

That small display was one of the main reasons some people preferred the iPhone SE. Well, that will be gone with the iPhone SE 4, presuming that the shared info is accurate. That phone will be considerably larger thanks to its 6.1-inch panel.

It will have considerably thinner bezels, though, no home button, and a notch at the top. Flat sides will also be thrown into the mix, while it will be made out of metal and glass.
