Today during Sony’s most recent PlayStation State of Play livestream event, Capcom revealed the final launch characters for Street Fighter 6. Making for a roster of 18 characters that players can use when the game releases. Street Fighter 6’s roster is, thus far, a mix of staple characters and new talent. As to be expected. Because there’s no way Capcom would dump some of the most iconic characters in fighting games from a mainline release. Or any release for that matter.
In addition to revealing the final three launch characters, Street Fighter 6 also had some new footage shown off. Although this was just footage of battles between the new characters and their opponents. Nevertheless, players get a sneak peek at how the characters work in this new release. As well as get an eyeful of any updated designs to the costumes.
The final three Street Fighter 6 launch characters include one new fighter
Rounding out the game’s launch roster is one newcomer and two returning characters that you’re no doubt familiar with from some of the classics. The first is Zangief, which Final Fantasy XIV producer Naoki Yoshida is famous for having gotten nerfed in Street Fighter EX because he beat Street Fighter developers 57 times in a row. Past funny stories aside, Zangief mains will be happy to know that he gets to keep some of his most iconic moves. Like the Screw Piledriver. As well as new moves like Tundra Storm.
In addition to Zangief, Cammy will be joining the launch roster as well. Cammy has been a mainline character since Super Street Fighter II. So players will no doubt be excited to see her return. Rounding out the roster is a new character called Lily. Although Lily is new, her roots in the lore are not. Capcom says she comes from the same tribe as T. Hawk (called the Thunderfoot tribe), another character from Super Street Fighter II.
You can view all three new characters in the trailer below to catch a glimpse of their moves.
