Android 13 starts rolling out to the Nothing Phone (1). This update comes with the Nothing OS 1.5.2 on top. The update weighs 157MB based on the information provided on Reddit and Nothing’s Discord server. Do note that this is the case when you’re updating from the beta build, though. There may be a size difference if you’re updating from a stable build.
Stable Android 13 update is now available for the Nothing Phone (1)
This update follows the Nothing OS 1.5 Open Beta build that Nothing rolled out back in December. Users have been eagerly anticipating the stable update, and it’s now here. It comes with the January 2023 Android security patch for some reason, though.
There is a chance that the rollout is limited to Open Beta testers, though. Keep that in mind, as we cannot confirm it yet. If that is the case, it will start rolling out to everyone really soon.
If you’re not one for waiting, you can manually install it thanks to XDA Developers. Head over to their Nothing Phone (1) update tracker in order to grab the necessary file. If you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, wait, as the process is not entirely straightforward. You can read more about it here.
Nothing included quite a few changes here, both new features & improvements
This update does bring all the Android 13 features, along with some Nothing OS changes, of course. So you’ll be getting a new Nothing weather app, and a new collection of minimalist wallpapers.
On top of that, the Glyph system got some new customization options, including ringtones and notification sounds. More color schemes are now available in the wallpaper selector, and the icons can now match your background color. Lockscreen shortcut customizations are also available now.
Nothing also improved the fingerprint unlock accuracy by up to 12%, and the app startup speed by up to 71%. Those are just some examples, you can check out all the changes in the official changelog shown below.
