The Steam Deck doesn’t have obscenely long startup time, but that doesn’t meant it couldn’t benefit from that time being reduced. Luckily for some users, that’s exactly what the latest Steam Deck client update is offering. In a post today Valve says it has pushed the latest client update out to the Steam Deck. It introduces a handful of fixes and feature improvements, and is available to all Steam Deck owners via the stable channel.
Interestingly, these changes were pushed out in a beta channel update just one day prior. Showcasing that Valve is working pretty quickly to get these updates out to everyone. One of the biggest changes, is the reduced startup time for Steam Deck users who have “tens of thousands of games in their library.” In short, if you hoard collect games on Steam and your library has its own zip code, this update is for you. Of course, there are more changes.

Lessening the time to a full startup is great. Because no one wants to wait a super long time for their system to load. And the wait only gets worse if your game library is utterly massive. But there are a few other noteworthy improvements included in the latest update.
For instance, Valve greatly improved the virtual keyboard. How you might ask? Well my fellow Steam Deck owners, let me tell you. The virtual keyboard in the Overlay will now remember the last place you put it. I’m not sure how many people will find this change exciting. But if you, like myself, have found it annoying that the virtual keyboard in the overlay wouldn’t remember placement, you can rest easy knowing you will no longer have to keep moving it back to where you wanted it.
There are a number of other improvements the update introduces, too. You can find the full list below.
