Samsung will introduce a new version of its One UI software with the Galaxy S23 series in a couple of days. One UI 5.1 is a relatively minor update from One UI 5.0 that most Galaxy devices are currently running. But the update will still bring a handful of new features and changes. A major leak has now revealed all of those upcoming features ahead of the official announcement.

Leak reveals all One UI 5.1 features

According to the German publication WinFuture, One UI 5.1 will make it easier to add color effects to your selfies. You can quickly select a color from the Effects button on the side of the screen. The Advanced menu in the camera app will now contain a shortcut to the Expert RAW app. If you have the app installed, you can quickly switch to it from the stock camera app on your Galaxy S23.

A new Shared Family Album in Gallery will make sharing photos with your family seamless. You can add up to six family members to a shared album and share photos. Gallery will recommend photos by recognizing your family members’ faces. Each member will get 5GB of storage space in a shared album. Samsung’s Gallery app will also automatically remove unnecessary shadows and reflections in photos while processing. GIFs can be recreated for better resolution and clarity.

One UI 5.1 will further let you create custom folders for saving screenshots and screen recordings. The update will also bring improvements to file information and search in Gallery. Samsung’s AR Zone and AR Emoji will get some functional improvements that make for a refined experience. A new battery widget will let you check the battery level of your connected Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Watch, and other compatible devices from your phone’s homescreen. The weather widget now intuitively shows the current weather condition.

The new One UI version will allow Galaxy S23 users to configure multiple wallpapers that automatically change based on their activity. You can set a different wallpaper for work hours, gym, and other activity modes. You can also set the phone to automatically open apps and adjust various settings when you turn on airplane mode or mobile hotspot. Samsung DeX, meanwhile, now makes it easier to resize windows in split-screen mode.

Bixby Text Call, connectivity improvements, and more

One UI 5.1 will bring a host of connectivity improvements. You get deeper integration with Galaxy Book laptops and other Windows PCs. Samsung Notes now supports collaboration, so you can have multiple people work on the same note simultaneously. Inviting people to your shared albums, notes, and calendars on your Galaxy device is also easier.

In Settings, Samsung will now show suggestions at the top so you can quickly find the desired option. Samsung Internet is getting search improvements, while the Weather app will now show more information on the home page. Bixby Text Call, which Samsung announced last year, is debuting with One UI 5.1 as well. It allows you to transcribe audio calls to text. You can have a text transcription of what the other party is saying on your screen. You can also respond in text. Your phone will automatically convert your response into audio for the other person.

Last but not least, One UI 5.1 will make switching phones easier. You can simply scan the QR code on your old Android device to automatically migrate your Wi-Fi networks, Samsung account, Google account, and more to your new Galaxy. Most of these features should reach older Galaxy flagships a few weeks after the Galaxy S23 launch. Samsung will push the One UI 5.1 update to all flagship models launched since the Galaxy S20 series in 2020. We will let you know when those updates arrive.
