Samsung will offer a free storage upgrade if you pre-order the Galaxy S23 series, at least in some markets. Ahead of next week’s launch event, the company has updated the fine print on its official business portal for the UK detailing the promotion. It says buyers will get the larger storage variant for the price of the smaller storage variant if they pre-order the phones by February 16th. That essentially also confirms the rumored release date of February 17.
The Galaxy S23 series will be official on Wednesday, February 1. Samsung should put the phones up for pre-order immediately after launch. That’s when it is expected to announce its pre-order offers as well.
However, someone in its UK team seems to have jumped the gun and updated the fine print ahead of time. The official landing page for the Galaxy S22 series on Samsung UK’s business portal (via) mentions the Galaxy S23 pre-order promotion. It confirms a free storage upgrade.
For example, if you pre-order the 256GB Galaxy S23, you’ll have to pay the price of the 128GB variant. Likewise, you can get the 512GB Galaxy S23+ or Galaxy S23 Ultra for the price of their respective 256GB options. The two larger models won’t come in a 128GB storage variant. One of the fine prints says business customers can get 10% off (up to £159) on the Galaxy S23 Ultra until the end of March. The storage variant isn’t mentioned here. But that’s presumably for the 512GB model.
The Galaxy S23 series may come pricier than the Galaxy S22
It’s not all shiny and encouraging for prospective Galaxy S23 buyers, though. Recent leaks, which are probably accurate considering how close we are to the launch, suggest the new Samsung flagships will come costlier than the Galaxy S22 phones. At least in some markets, if not globally.
We are hearing that the Galaxy S23 trio will cost about €100 more in most European countries, depending on local taxes and duties. A similar price hike may also be seen in Australia, South Korea, and a few other markets.
Samsung fans in the US, meanwhile, may rejoice to learn that the Galaxy S23 could debut with an unchanged price from last year. Yes, leaks say the phones will start at $800, which is pretty competitive pricing for all the upgrades you’re getting. The deal will be sweeter if Samsung offers a similar free storage upgrade in the US as well. We will find out soon.
