The latest look at Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania reveals more of Jonathan Majors as the supervillain, Kang.
Marvel hero Scott Lang promises to get his family home in the latest look at the upcoming MCU sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It is now one month before Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania kicks off Phase 5 and introduces audiences the new big bad, Kang the Conqueror, who Scott is forced to do a deal with in order to escape the Quantum Realm. A bargain that he will surely come to regret. Check out the new teaser trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania below courtesy of Marvel Entertainment.
“This place…it isn’t what you think,” says Kang in the new footage. “It’s a cage,” he adds ominously, as he attempts to explain to Scott Lang exactly what the Quantum Realm is. “But we can help each other,” he offers in an effort to get the Avenger on-side. “He is a monster. You cannot trust him,” Janet van Dyne, who has had experience with both the Quantum Realm and Kang, warns.
Of course, the hyper-intelligent, time-traveling villain will not hear such words. “I’m just a man,” Kang assures Scott, “but know how it ends.”
It remains to be seen how long it will take Scott Lang to catch onto the fact that he has made a Faustian deal with the Devil in offering to work alongside Kang. But find out he will, with things quickly spiraling out of control as Kang mocks the hero before thuggishly delivering a kick to his head. “You thought you could win?!” Kang laughs as he takes Ant-Man apart with his far superior fighting skills.
“I don’t have to win. We both just have to lose,” replies a defiant Scott. Could Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania be his final adventure? How will he get his daughter Cassie and the rest of his extended family home? And how will Kang escape in order to battle The Avengers in 2025’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty? Thankfully, we only have to wait another month to find out.
Kang is a Different Kind of Marvel Villain, Says Kevin Feige
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has promised a different kind of villain when Kang the Conqueror makes his debut. “He is the obvious choice as you’re dealing with the Multiverse,” Feige said recently of the character’s introduction. “Kang allowed us to do a new kind of Big Bad. He’s a different type of villain, warring amongst themselves as much as he’s warring with our heroes. Kang’s a very powerful person, but when we meet him he’s in a position where he needs to get that power back. He has a ship and a device that would allow him to go anywhere, and anywhen he wants if he can get it online. If only he had access to genius scientists with Pym particles.”
Directed by Peyton Reed from a screenplay by Jeff Loveness, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne aka Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, and Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang, as well as David Dastmalchian, William Jackson Harper, Katy O’Brian, Bill Murray, Randall Park, and Corey Stoll a MODOK.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled to be released on February 17, 2023, as the first film of Phase Five of the MCU.
