Elon Musk already talked about the upcoming Twitter UI overhaul, and also said that long-form tweets are coming. He now shared some more info about it, including when we can expect some of these changes.
The first phase of Twitter UI overhaul is coming, and it includes long-form tweets
Musk said, recently, that you’ll be able to easily swipe right/left in order to move between recommended and followed tweets. Well, now we know that this change will be implemented later this week. This is the first part of a much larger UI overhaul, Musk said.
Another change that is a part of this UI overhaul is the bookmark button. The bookmark button was always there, but it’s kind of hidden now. Well, Musk plans to change that. He recently announced that a real bookmark manager is coming. That change will take place “a week later [than the aforementioned one]”. That basically means it’s coming next week.
At the very end of his tweet, Musk said that long-form tweets will be implemented in early February. We’re not really sure what exactly will the implementation look like, but you won’t have to separate your tweets into a ton of them, if you need to share something that requires way more characters.
Elon Musk is making changes left and right
Elon Musk is obviously not shying away from changing things at Twitter. Ever since he took over, he has been changing things. Some changes were for the better, others, not so much. He even reverted some changes soon after they were made.
Musk is obviously trying to find a winning formula, and that requires a major UI overhaul, it seems. Not many people will agree that all of the changes mentioned in his latest tweet are good, but most of them probably are.
The long-form tweets are the major point of controversy, though, as many people still don’t think such a change is necessary. It kind of messes with the core Twitter functionality, and yet it makes the app more modern in a way. It remains to be seen what exactly Musk has in mind.
