If rumors are to be believed, then we are now less than two months away from the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. The new Galaxy flagships are said to break cover in early February next year. We have already seen the phones in renders, thanks to leaks back in September. Today, we have real-life pictures of alleged dummy units of all three Galaxy S23 models.
Galaxy S23 dummy units give a closer look at new Samsung flagships
Published online earlier today, the pictures give us a closer look at the design of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. As suggested by the leaked renders, all three models will have their rear cameras pop out individually from the back panel. There’s no camera bump on the new phones. The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ featured a contour-cut camera housing this year. Only the Ultra model got this bump-less camera design. Samsung is keeping things consistent across the lineup next year.
Apart from the change in camera layout on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+, not much else will change. At least from the design perspective. We have long heard that the new Samsung flagships would look identical to their respective predecessors and that appears to be true. The Ultra model retains its boxy design and built-in S Pen silo. However, we can see that the dummy units have the SIM tray on the left edge of all three phones. That’s a change from the current models, which have the SIM tray at the bottom.
Of course, that’s only if the dummy units are accurately representative of the final design. The leaked renders showed the SIM tray at the bottom. So either the renders or the dummy units aren’t accurate. But if history is any indication, leaks about the Galaxy S23 series should come more frequently in the coming weeks. It may not be a long wait before we have more evidence supporting one or the other layout. We will keep you posted accordingly.
Samsung will reportedly launch the new Galaxy flagships in early February
Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series on February 9 this year. And, rumors say that the company is looking at the same window for the Galaxy S23 launch. While we don’t yet have a precise launch date, the Korean media recently reported that Samsung has locked an “early February” date. Sales will reportedly begin on February 17, 2023. We will have to wait and see how much truth is in that.
