Google has started rolling out Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1 to its Pixel smartphones. As most of you know, the Android 13 QPR1 is now stable, so it’s time to focus on the second QPR release. As per usual, we’re going through the beta stage first.

Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1 is now available for Pixel phones

As its name says, this is the very first beta build for the next Android 13 QPR release. We’re expecting to see three such beta releases for QPR2, before it becomes stable in March next year.

There are some known issues with this build. The list of Recent apps can become unresponsive if you change the screen orientation while in the Recent apps screen. The picture-in-picture (PiP) mode can crash in some cases after changing the screen orientation.

There is also an issue with Google Camera, when switching back to Normal video capture mode from Slow Motion mode. The app tends to continue capturing slow-motion video if the capture speed was changed between 1/8x and 1/4x in Slow Motion mode. Additional issues are also a possibility, of course.

If you want to try it out, be warned…

If you want to test out Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1, you can, but be warned. This is a beta release, so problems are possible, as mentioned above. You can enroll from google.com/android/beta without a device wipe. Well, if you’re still a part of the Beta Program, of course.

Do note that if you have already updated to Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1, leaving the program will result in a device wipe. You will be able to avoid it if you wait for the launch of Android 13 QPR2 in March.

Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1 is now available for the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. If you need to grab factory images, or OTAs, you can do it from here.
