Ikea is a big name in home appliances and furniture. It sells all sorts of neat and interesting devices, and these include speakers. According to Engadget, this latest Ikea Symfonisk speaker actually doubles as a floor lamp. It’s one of those combinations of devices that you never think about, but when someone makes it, it makes all the sense in the world.
Ikea is no stranger to making high-quality speakers to fill your house with sound. These are often pretty innovative and rather pricey. However, they’re perfect if you’re having a house party and you want to have music throughout your home. For example, the company launched a picture frame speaker that will play high-quality music through a piece of art.

Unfortunately, this Ikea speaker doesn’t really have a fancy name. It’s just an Ikea Symfonisk speaker that’s a lamp… Looking at the device itself, we can tell the Ikea isn’t trying to hide the fact that it’s a speaker. It’s pretty obvious. However, it does do a good job of looking like an eccentric and trendy piece of furniture.
The speaker itself is fairly large, and the light bulb pops out of the top. The speaker sits on long and skinny legs that make up most of the height. The speaker will deliver audio at about face level, which is a great decision.
Now, let’s talk price. As you can expect, this lamp speaker combo will not come cheap. If you get this speaker with the included Bamboo lampshade, it will set you back $260. If you want to get different lamp shades, you have your option, but they’ll run you between $39 and $49. This makes it the most expensive Symfonisk speaker, but then again, it’s not just the speaker.
If you’re interested in picking up one of these products, Ikea is going to make these available in January. So, unfortunately you will not be able to pick this up for a Christmas present.
