Telegram delivers a steady stream of updates to its app, and we have a slew of new additions for both free and premium users. The most prominent new feature is the video transcription feature for Telegram premium subscribers.
Telegram is one of the most popular messaging platforms, trading blows with the likes of WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. It does this by delivering compelling features and an easy-to-use interface.
Recently, the company unveiled the Telegram premium subscription, and this gives users access to additional fun features for only $4.99/month.
Telegram premium users can now use the video transcription feature
One of the new additions for Telegram premium users is the ability for it to create a transcript of videos. The platform already lets users do this with voice messages. However, there are situations when you need to watch a video message, but you can’t quite hear it.
You’ll either be in a place that’s too loud to hear your phone, or you could be in a place that’s so quiet that EVERYONE can hear your phone. This is why this feature is so handy.
Topics
This next feature will definitely declutter large chat groups. The feature is called Topics, and it acts almost like in-chat threads. A group chat can be about anything, and it can be hard to pinpoint who’s talking about what. This can only be worse when you’re talking about really large groups.
So, the company added a new topics feature that will basically let users organize their conversations into specific topics. So, if people are talking about sports, and someone wants to start talking about food, that person can make a Food topic where other people can chat about food. Topics are all sequestered in their own separate sections, so it’ll be easy to see who’s talking about what.
Other additions
Other minor additions include consistent text resizing for Android users. When you change the text size, it will change the size of the text for the entire interface. Also, there are new animations for when you’re waiting for messages to load and for swiping left to reply within the chat.
Rounding out the changes is a set of 12 new emoji packs that you can use in the chat. Some were designed by the design team at Telegram.
These changes should be rolling out now. If you don’t see them, make sure that your app is fully updated. If you still don’t see them, then just wait a day or two for them to hit your phone.
