It is now practically confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature a 200MP main camera at the back. But what about the rest of the cameras? Well, rumors so far have hinted at the same setup as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, at least in terms of resolution. Another noted tipster has reiterated those rumors. According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the 200MP camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be accompanied by a 10MP 10X periscope zoom camera, a 10MP 3X telephoto zoom camera, and a 12MP ultrawide lens.
If you remember, the ultrawide lens and the two zoom cameras on the Galaxy S22 Ultra are also of the same resolution. Its successor is essentially only switching the 108MP main camera for the 200MP sensor. But there’s more to this story. For one, we don’t yet know if we are talking about the same sensors as on the current model, or if Samsung will use newer solutions of the same resolution. If the upcoming phone gets new sensors, then it should mean improved picture quality as well.
Even if these are the sensors, Samsung could improve the picture quality in other ways. The hardware is only part of the game. A lot depends on the camera software, algorithms, and processing. The company has had one more year to refine all of these. Early leaks have already hinted at massive improvements in the quality of night and zoom photos. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is touted to bring Samsung’s biggest camera upgrade in five years. The current Ultra is already a great camera phone, and its successor may now take things up a notch.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will get a new 200MP camera
While it’s unclear whether the zoom cameras and the ultrawide lens on the Galaxy S23 Ultra are new sensors, we know the 200MP main camera is. Samsung has already launched two 200MP sensors but the upcoming flagship will use neither. The Korean firm will equip the phone with its third-gen solution. Once again, that should mean improvements over the first two 200Mp cameras. Samsung has likely learned from those and implemented the learnings on the new camera.
The Galaxy S23 series is rumored to go official in early 2023. Samsung has already started picking up regulatory approvals for the phones. And that means it’s about time leaks and rumors about the devices arrived more frequently. Stay tuned for all the latest information about the next-gen Samsung flagships.
