Chances are, most of the games on your phone need an internet connection to even fire up. It doesn’t affect you all that much because your phone is constantly connected. However, what about those times where you don’t have a signal? Sometimes, you just want to play games offline.
It can be frustrating trying to start games (ones as simple as jigsaw puzzles or RPGs, mind you) only to get the “Can’t connect to server” message when without a signal. Because of times like these, it’s important to have apps that can be played with or without a connection. Here’s a list of the best offline games you can play on Android.

- Size: 174MB
- Google Play Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5
Pirate Outlaws is a fun card-based action game that involves, you guessed it, pirate outlaws. The gameplay is pretty unique, as you’ll use attack cards granted to you to attack. The power of your attacks depends on the cards that you get.
Your character starts off with three pieces of ammo, and you need ammo in order to do your attacks. Each attack card you get will use a certain amount of ammo, and if you run out, your turn will end. You can gain ammo by using ammo cards, though.
You can get the game for only $1, and there aren’t any in-app purchases or ads. That’s good news for those who just want a simple game to play.
Unwanted Experiment
- Download Cost: Free
- In-App Cost: $0.99
- Size: 25MB

This is the perfect game if you’re into the psychological and macabre. Your character is knocked out while snooping around an abandoned shack. After waking up, it’s up to you to escape.
It has gameplay similar to that of the 100 Doors games. You’ll need to collect items and use them to solve puzzles and find your way out. Along the way, you’ll find out more about the person who uses that shack.
There’s a deep story with a dark and twisted tone to it. If you’re into that, then this game is a must-have.

The game is free to play, but there’s a one-time purchase of $2.49. This will get rid of the ads, give you free hints, and give you an additional chapter.

Dungeon Cards
- Download Cost: Free
- In-App Cost: $0.99 – $39.99
- Size: 40MB
- Google Play Rating: 4.3 stars out of 5
Dungeon Cards is a really simple game in many respects, but it can be tricky at times. The level is a 3 x 3 grid of cards (one of which represents your character). You will tap on cards adjacent to your character to move to that spot. Moving to a spot means interacting with the object in it.
If you interact with an enemy, you’ll lose health unless you pick up a weapon. Weapons are their own cards, and you just need to interact with them to pick them up. When you have a weapon, you can only use it for a certain amount of hits before you’ll need to find another one. The point of the game is to wrack up as much gold as you can before you run out of health.

- In-App Cost: $0.99 – $89.99
- Size: 159MB
- Google Play Rating: 4.7 stars out of 5
Undead vs. Demon is a straightforward game that has you in heated combat versus demons. The gameplay is familiar, but not derivative. On the top of the gameboard, you’ll see rows of demons. You’ll shoot balls at the demons to destroy them.
They’ll ricochet off of the walls of the gameboard and bounce off of enemies until they hit the bottom. As you play, you’ll upgrade your characters to inflict more damage. And you’ll need it, as you’ll also face off against bosses.

This game has a sad backstory, but the characters are just so adorable, it’s easy to ignore. Your character is shipwrecked, and you need to make civilization.
This game has elements of the Match-3 games mixed in, but it’s still pretty different. Each round, you’ll see differently-colored tiles that you can move. What you have to do is match three tiles together. Instead of disappearing, the tiles will merge.
The tiles start off as water, but once you combine enough, they’ll turn into land. You’ll keep going like this and form an island. From there, you’ll add civilizations to your island.
ExoMiner

You’ll use that money to build up your civilization and establish more mines. You’ll keep going until you’ve built a mighty civilization.

I love Hue Too is a chromatic puzzle game. For each level, you’ll see a color palette with clean gradients from one color to another. It’s broken up into blocks, and some of those blocks are scrambled.
Your job is to put those blocks back in their place. You’ll know you’ve beat the level when you’ve reconstructed those smooth gradients. It can get challenging, but the game does provide hints. Also, there are hundreds of levels that you can play, and they each provide a good amount of challenge.
The Way Home

- Size: 168MB

The Way Home is a pretty straightforward rogue-like game. As the story goes, you play as a set of characters who are trapped on a strange island. Your ultimate goal is to find your way back home.
The gameplay is pretty simple. You gather materials throughout the island and you use them to build essentials. As you play, you’ll encounter monsters. Your character will automatically attack those monsters if you’re standing still. That will make the gameplay interesting, as you’ll be facing hordes of monsters along the way. It’s a fun and action-packed game that will definitely get the blood pumping.
TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM!
- Download Cost: Free
- In-App Cost: $0.99 – $11.99
- Size: 86MB
- Google Play Rating: 4.7 stars out of 5
This game has a neat pixelated look that’s pleasing to the eye. It’s all about collecting fossils in order to fix up a broken-down museum. This is where the “Tap” in this game’s name comes from.
Each level is an excavation. You’ll see a grid of tiles that you tap on to dig up. As you dig, you’ll uncover fossils under the dirt. You’ll want to be careful, as you have a limited number of taps. Each tap is equal to one hour in the day.
You’ll continue to excavate and build your dinosaur skeletons over time to bring your museum up.
