Spotify is one of, if not the biggest, music streaming services in the world. For all its popularity, the company isn’t streaming the highest quality music that $10/month can buy. However, it looks like Spotify will launch a Hi-Fi audio plan, but it will come at a cost.

Services like Tidal, Deezer, and Apple Music give their customers access to Hi-Fi audio files. These audio files are made for, well, audiophiles. People are willing to spend more money every month so that they can better enjoy their music experience.

However, Spotify doesn’t seem to want to give its users high-quality audio. The company even falls short of delivering CD-quality audio. That’s a big no-no if you want to get the most from your audio.

The Spotify Hi-Fi audio plan could be rather expensive

The good news is that Spotify confirmed it’s going to deliver a Hi-Fi audio plan. In the announcement post, the company detailed some information about the plan, but the price was not included.

However, one user reported on Reddit (via Android Police) something that could give us an idea of the price. The user, upon canceling their Spotify account, was presented with a survey asking if they would spend money for a premium plan.

As part of the survey, Spotify listed The prices of each of its plans including the platinum plan. The Platinum plan looks like it will cost $19.99/month. That is double the amount of the regular individual plan.

That’s a pretty big jump in price just for Hi-Fi audio. However, this plan will come with other perks as well. Judging from the survey, this plan will come with a headphone tuner, stereo sound, audio highlights, Library Pro, Playlist Pro, and podcasts with limited ads.

Some of these features, like Library Pro and Playlist Pro, will definitely require some more explanation. Also, a lot of people will be disappointed in paying double the price of the individual plan but still needing to sit through ads during podcasts

We will have to wait until Spotify launches Hi-Fi audio plan to know if it’s really worth it. It’s going to be a tough battle, as there is a lot of competition in this market.
