At Amazon’s services and devices event today, it announced quite a few things. Including some new Fire TV products. After announcing its 4-series and Omni series TVs last year, Amazon is back with an update for the Omni series. Now, we have the Fire TV Omni QLED Series. This is the most premium Fire TV you’ll find, and it’s available in 65-inch and 75-inch models.
As indicated by the name, the Omni QLED Series are QLED TVs. So you can expect some really great picture quality out of these TVs. They also feature full-array local dimming on up to 96 zones. There’s also support for Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive. Giving you one of the best visual experiences available. In addition to that, it also supports other HDR standards, including HDR10+ and HLG.
Of course, it’s powered by Fire TV, so Alexa is available here. And Amazon is including Alexa Widgets for the first time. So you can use new widgets that have been optimized for the TV. These will provide glanceable information to keep you informed throughout the day. You can see your schedule with Calendars and Reminders, leave Sticky Notes for others in the home, and even see the latest news headlines. It’s like an Echo Show, but much larger.
Like other smart devices, the Omni QLED Series allows you to control your Ambient Experience. You are able to electronically disable the far-field microphone at the flip of the switch. That microphone is used to listen for the “Alexa” hotword. These features can also be easily tuned to your preferences, like turning presence detection off and setting quiet hours for glanceable information.
Pricing & Availability
The new Fire TV Omni QLED Series will be available in a 65-inch for $799 and a 75-inch size for $1,099. Amazon says that these will be available in the US and Canada at Best Buy and Amazon.com, with pre-orders beginning today.
They are set to start shipping on October 27.
Update: a previous version of this article indicated there was no ship date. That has been corrected.
