The ongoing Netflix TUDUM event continues to bring the excitement, revealing the first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, Enola Holmes 2. Released courtesy of Netflix, Enola Holmes 2 sees Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown return as the lesser-known Holmes sibling, Enola, as she embarks on her first real case. You can check out the trailer for Enola Holmes 2 below.

Released in 2020, the first Enola Holmes outing introduced audiences to Millie Bobby Brown as the title character. An adaptation of the mystery-thriller book series of the same name written by Nancy Springer, Enola Holmes chronicles the adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister Enola, who, when her mother disappears, decides to become a super-sleuth in her own right.

Directed by Harry Bradbeer from a screenplay by Jack Thorne, Enola Holmes finds Millie Bobby Brown taking the lead, supported by a cast that includes Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes and Sam Claflin as Mycroft, with Helena Bonham Carter as their mother, Eudoria. The first outing for Enola Holmes was met with largely positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike and quickly became the most watched film on Netflix. At the time, that is. Enola Holmes was watched by a massive 76 million households during its first four weeks, with the streaming giant no doubt hoping to replicate the same success with the upcoming sequel.

Enola Holmes 2 Finds the Character Working as a Detective-for-Hire & Drawn into a Dangerous Conspiracy

Thus, Enola Holmes 2 will pick up with the character now working as a fully-fledged detective-for-hire like her infamous brother, Sherlock. Enola’s newest adventure begins after a young girl working in a match factory hires her to locate her missing sister. Before long, Enola finds herself drawn into a high-stakes chase across London, journeying from the city’s seedy industrial underbelly to the glitzy galas of high society.

Henry Cavill is also expected to play a slightly bigger role this time around, with the sequel reportedly centering on the relationship between Enola and her elder brother, the famed Sherlock Holmes, as the former attempts to step out of the latter’s shadow. A task that becomes increasingly difficult when their cases overlap.

Netflix is not the only one to have high hopes for Enola Holmes 2, with star Millie Bobby Brown calling the sequel and potential franchise the most important moment in her career. “[Enola Holmes] may be the most important moment in my career so far, because it’s something that I developed,” the actress said. “It’s rewarding. Obviously, it can be tiring, and when you look back on it, you’re like, ‘Gosh, I can’t believe I didn’t fall asleep.’ But there were so many things that I got to be a part of, and I really was grateful for that. My age and gender has never defined [my job], so everyone on set really respected me and heard me. It was such a nice environment to be able to experience.”

Directed once again by Harry Bradbeer, Enola Holmes 2 is scheduled to be released by Netflix on 4 November 2022.
