Motorola has announced its new budget smartphones, the moto e22, and moto e22i. These two devices look the same, and their spec sheets are basically the same, save for the software. More on that soon.
You’ll notice that the devices have a waterdrop display notch, and a rather noticeable ‘chin’ below the display. All the physical keys sit on the right-hand side, while there are two cameras included on the back.
Two new Motorola moto e22 phones come with different software
The main difference between the two devices is that one runs Android 12 and the other Android 12 (Go edition). The moto e22i comes with the Go edition software made for lower-end smartphones. In every other way, these two phones are the same.
You’ll find a 6.5-inch HD+ (1600 x 720) MaxVision display on these two phones. We’re looking at a 90Hz panel here, with a 20:9 display aspect ratio. The MediaTek Helio G37 SoC fuels the phone, that is a rather old 12nm chip.
You’ll find 4GB of RAM inside the two devices, along with 64GB of storage. The included storage can be expanded via a microSD card up to 512GB, though.
A 4,020mAh battery can be found on the inside of the moto e22 and moto e22i. Both phones support 10W charging, and have two nano SIM card slots, and a separate microSD card slot.
Both devices are water-repellent, and have a capacitive fingerprint scanner
Motorola also says that both phones are water-repellent, and there is a side-facing fingerprint scanner on both of them. That fingerprint scanner doubles as a power/lock key.
A 16-megapixel main camera (f/2.2 aperture) sits on the back of the phone. In addition to that, Motorola added a 2-megapixel depth sensor (f/2.4 aperture). A single 5-megapixel camera is located on the front side.
Both devices support dual 4G VoLTE connectivity, and Bluetooth 5. There is a Type-C USB port at the bottom of both devices. They measure 163.95 x 74.6 x 7.99mm, and weigh 172 grams.
The moto e22 comes in Astro Black and Crystal Blue colors. It will be available in markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. It’s priced at €139.99.
The moto e22i, on the other hand, comes in Graphite Gray and Winter White color options. It’s coming to select markets across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. This phone is priced at €129.99.
