WhatsApp has started to widely roll out its new visibility options that let users have more control over who visits their Last seen status, profile picture, About page, and Status.

The Meta-owned messaging app has been working on this since last year, and some beta testers can access it on their devices now. This is a privacy-driven feature whose goal is to enhance users’ privacy.

Traditionally, WhatsApp allows you to make your Status, Last Seen, and About info visible to everyone or your contacts. Also, you can make them completely hidden.

However, thanks to the new option, you can determine which one of your contacts can’t see your profile photo, Status, etc. Other contacts can visit these personal materials without any restrictions.

The new option is available on the setting page under the “My contacts except….” name. Also, the way this new option works is similar to a blacklist.

WhatsApp rolls out its new visibility options

To hide your personal material from specific contacts, click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner. Then, go to Account > Privacy. The new visibility options are available in the latest version of WhatsApp. You can now check the Play Store for availability.

Moreover, accessibility and privacy options are becoming an important part of WhatsApp. The app now gives admins more control over the people who can join a group. The new feature is called “Group Membership Approval,” and it’s still in development. WhatsApp also increased the group chat capacity to 512 members.

Many other practical and user-friendly features have been added to WhatsApp recently or spotted by tipsters for future releases. For example, the Meta-owned messaging app now provides a hassle-free way of migrating from Android to iOS. Of course, without losing any data.

However, an editing option is one of the most anticipated features that many WhatsApp users are waiting for. While offering an option to edit a message is a common feature among most messaging apps, WhatsApp lacks this feature. But tipster found that an editing option might come to WhatsApp in future updates. We hope we don’t have to wait more than a year to access an editing option.
