The Galaxy S21 FE is the latest Samsung smartphone to receive the June 2022 Android security patch. It follows the other three Galaxy S21 models as well as a dozen other Galaxies in receiving the latest security update.

As usual, the June SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for the Galaxy S21 FE isn’t available all over the world at once. The update is first rolling out to users in Taiwan. Other regions will follow in the coming days. The new firmware version for the phone is G990EXXU2CVF1.

The build number for the new OTA (over the air) software package for the Galaxy S21 FE may vary by market, depending on the device’s model number in the region. But the content will largely remain the same. Samsung has already confirmed that this month’s security update fixes over 70 vulnerabilities. These include a few critical ones too.

All of these fixes will roll out to the Galaxy S21 FE globally over the next few days or weeks. Additionally, the phone is also picking up some system stability and reliability improvements. Samsung doesn’t go into detail but it may have made some optimizations for improved user experience.

There’s no new feature coming to the Galaxy S21 FE with the latest update, though. After months of delay, the device arrived early in 2022 as Samsung’s newest affordable flagship. It came running Android 12-based One UI 4.0 out of the box. It received the One UI 4.1 update a few months after launch. The Android 13 (One UI 5.0) update should be the next big feature update for it. Samsung is also working on another minor One UI version based on Android 12. But One UI 4.1.1 appears to be focused on foldables and tablets, i.e. big-screen devices. Regular smartphones may not benefit much from it.

Nonetheless, if you’re using the Galaxy S21 FE, the June SMR should be headed to your phone anytime now. Be on the lookout for a notification about the OTA release. You can also manually check for updates from the Settings app.

The Galaxy Note 10 Lite is also receiving the June update

Samsung has also recently released the June SMR to the Galaxy Note 10 Lite. The rollout for this phone has begun in France. The new update comes with firmware version N770FXXU8GVF2. Users in other regions can look forward to receiving the latest security update in the coming days. Note that the Galaxy Note 10 and the Galaxy Note 10+ have already picked up the June update.
