Windows 11 is constantly getting updates containing useful changes and features. According to XDA Developers, the latest build launched for the Windows Insider program, and it has some interesting new additions. The most interesting addition is the implementation of tabs into the File Explorer.
This feature will be a boon to those who like to use multiple folders often. It’s easy for your workspace to be cluttered with folders upon folders when you’re really busy. This is why this idea seems like such a blessing.
Looking at the screenshot, we see a folder open. Up top, we see an internet browser-style tab. We also see the “X” to close the tab and the “+” to open a new tab. This means that when you open a new File Explorer window, the first tab open will be the home page. From there, you can add on more tabs, and you’ll be able to go to other folders within that tab.
It’s such a simple addition, but it can really help reduce clutter when you need to use a lot of folders. Instead of having five different folders in five different windows, you can have just one.
Also, you can better organize the folders that you need to use. If you need two folders for documents and three for pictures, you can just open two windows. One could have the document tabs, and the other can have the three picture tabs.
Aside from tabs in File Explorer, there’s a new change to the widgets
The next change is a minor one, but it’s still useful. On the bottom left of the taskbar, you’d usually see the weather widget. Now, after the update, you’ll see financial information from the Finance widget. It’s a good way to get some quick at-a-glance information on what’s going on in the financial world.
This is only available to people in the Windows Insiders program, so it won’t be available to the general public for some time. If you want to try these features, (and others like installing Android apps)you can join the program. Just know that the software will be unstable, so it’s not recommended that you use your work computer.
