The official launch of the Odyssey Neo G8 monitor from Samsung is here. So if you’re in need of a new gaming monitor and have an extra $1,500 to spend this might fit your needs. Samsung says this is the world’s first 240kHz 4K gaming monitor. Hence the price. Though, if frames per second are the most important to you, you might want to wait for ASUS’s upcoming gaming monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate. Cause there’s a chance it’ll be around the same cost.
Samsung officially announced the Odyssey Neo G8 last month. But at the time it wasn’t available to purchase and could only be reserved. Samsung now has the monitor up for sale on its official store website for anyone who’s willing to spend the cash. Samsung is also launching its Odyssey Neo G7 monitor today. Which uses the same 32-inch size panel with 4K resolution. It dumps the frame rate down to 165Hz though so you can save a couple hundred bucks.
Samsung will launch the Odyssey Neo G8 globally this month
With its latest gaming monitors now available in the US, Samsung is turning its attention to the global market. According to the company, both the Odyssey Neo G8 and Odyssey Neo G7 are gearing up for a global launch sometime this month. Samsung doesn’t appear to mention anything about exact launch dates for other regions though.
Additionally, Samsung is launching a third Odyssey Neo gaming monitor this month. The Odyssey Neo G4. This monitor keeps the 240Hz refresh rate. But scales the resolution down to 1080p and comes in 27-inch and 25-inch sizes. This is also a flat monitor where the other two come with the 1000R curvature that debuted with the original Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor a few years ago.
There’s no word yet on the pricing of Samsung’s third monitor, or when exactly it’s launching in the US. But being the smallest of the three with the lowest resolution could mean the price will stay right around or under $1,000.
