The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be lighter than its predecessor, and quite possibly thinner as well. That won’t be the only foldable that will trim the fat, though. According to a new report, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will also be both thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is set to be both thinner & lighter
This information comes from Ice Universe, a well-known tipster. The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is set to become the company’s second foldable smartphone. This will be an inner-folding smartphone, much like the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold launched last year, and its successor is coming in the upcoming months. The first-gen model was limited to China, it never launched globally. That may change with the MIX Fold 2, though.
There are not many foldable smartphones on offer globally, the vast majority of them are still limited to China. We’re expecting more of them to see global launches in the next year or so. The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 may be one of them.
An earlier report suggested that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is coming with a smaller hinge, and thinner display. That goes hand-in-hand with this rumor, actually, as that would indicate a thinner and lighter foldable overall.
It will also include a smaller battery
The device is, unfortunately, expected to include a smaller battery than its predecessor. The Mi MIX Fold includes a 5,020mAh battery. We’re not sure what the battery capacity will be inside the new phone, but it will be smaller than that.
The crease will also be less noticeable on the device, due to a new hinge. The device will also be quite powerful, needless to say. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ SoC may end up fueling this device.
An 8-inch main display is tipped for the phone, in addition to a secondary 6.5-inch panel. Both of those displays are expected to offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone itself will be made out of metal and glass, most certainly.
