According to a new report, OnePlus is planning to launch “foldable products” in 2023. Yes, you read it right, it’s plural, more than one product is coming. This information comes from Max Jambor, a well-known tipster.
OnePlus “foldable products”, plural, are coming in 2023
He shared an interesting-looking image on Twitter that obviously teases a foldable product for 2023. I talked further with him, and he confirmed that more than one foldable device is coming in 2023, from the company.
That is all the information he shared, unfortunately. We’ve been hearing some rumors regarding OnePlus’ foldable devices. One of them suggested that OnePlus will use the OPPO Find N design for one of its upcoming foldable devices.
That is still a possibility, only one source suggested it thus far. So, take that info with a grain of salt, we’ll see what happens. Considering that more than one foldable device is coming from OnePlus, it’s safe to assume we’ll get two different foldables.
We may get competitors for both the Galaxy Z Fold & Z Flip series
What do I mean by “different”? Well, we’re probably getting one direct competitor for the Galaxy Z Fold series, and one for the Z Flip series. In other words, one will fold like a book, and the other will be a clamshell foldable. That is, at the very least, what we’re expecting.
It is, of course, possible that OnePlus will release more than two foldables in 2023. All we know is that more than one is coming, so who knows. These are great news for the foldable smartphone market, though.
Why? Well, the vast majority of foldable devices that launched thus far are limited to China. The HONOR Magic V is a really interesting foldable, but it’s only available in China. The same goes for the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold, and so on.
OnePlus’ foldable smartphones should be able to create proper competition for Samsung in global markets. The price tag will play a huge part in the general scheme of things, though, of course.
