According to a well-known tipster, Mukul Sharma, the Pixel 6a production has begun. He says that Google started manufacturing devices in “several Asian countries”, right before the phone’s launch.

The Pixel 6a production has begun, while the phone will launch on Wednesday

As most of you know, the Pixel 6a is expected to launch on Wednesday, May 111. That’s when Google I/O 2022 is starting, and the day Google will host its keynote. The Pixel Watch is also rumored to launch, by the way, but we’ll see.

In any case, you may have to wait a bit before you’re able to buy the Pixel 6a. The device may not go on sale until the end of July. The good news is, though, that it will get a wider release than its predecessor, the Pixel 5a.

Several sources reported that. Those are good news, as the Pixel 5a was launched only in the US and Japan. That was a shame, for sure, but the device was delayed due to chip shortage, and that probably messed up Google’s plans.

It will utilize Google’s current flagship SoC

The Pixel 6a will likely be quite affordable, and that will be one of its main selling points. It is tipped to include Google’s Tensor SoC, the same one used in the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro flagships.

The phone will likely retain the 12.2-megapixel main camera used on the Pixel 5, and a number of other Pixel phones. A 12-megapixel ultrawide camera from that device will likely also be in use.

Google will either use 6GB or 8GB of RAM inside of this device, while its storage will likely be 128GB. It will look very similar to the Pixel 6, though it will be slightly smaller than that device.

It is worth noting that the Pixel 5a was priced at $449 at launch, and we’re expecting a similar price tag for the Pixel 6a. Google may bump it up to $499, though, we’ll see. It is also worth noting that the device is allegedly being privately-tested in India as well.
