Amazon Alexa can do quite a few things that make your life a lot easier. But did you know that it can also be used to control your TV? Even if you don’t have a Fire TV? Many other TV makers and streaming products have Amazon Alexa built-in, so you can use your voice to switch apps, or find something to watch, or even turn the TV on or off.
Today, we’re going to show you how you can do that, as well as the different commands you can use with Alexa on your TV to control it.
How to set up TV control with Alexa
Open the Alexa app on your smartphone.
Now tap on the More tab and then tap on Settings.
Then tap on TV & Video.
From there, you’re going to see a list of video service providers. If you see your TV maker or streaming device available, then you can select it.
Next, you’ll be asked to link or enable the provider. Depending on the provider, the steps will vary a bit. For most, you’ll just need to sign in and link your two accounts.
Next, you’ll need to choose a TV to link. And then you can add one or more Alexa speakers. This allows you to use voice commands without having to specify where things would be played. Obviously, you can also change this later on.
And that’s it. Now you can use your voice to control your TV using Amazon Alexa.
