The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is one of the foldable smartphones Samsung plans to announce this year. The Z Fold 4 will, allegedly, come with a new hinge, that is both thinner and lighter.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 to include new hinge that is thinner & lighter
Well, this will be the case if the tipster is to be believed. This information comes from Anthony aka @TheGalox_. He says that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will become the company’s first smartphone with a “single hinge”.
That hinge will not only be lighter and thinner, but it will also be less expensive and more durable at the same time. This seems like a win-win situation based on the provided information.
It was reported, recently, that Samsung will use KH Vatec as the main Galaxy Z Fold 4 hinge supplier. The company is planning to ship 13 million foldable smartphones in 2022, well, new foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 which are expected to launch in H2.
That’s quite an ambitious number considering that the company allegedly shipped 7 million Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 units. Samsung is expecting an increased demand, it seems.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 are expected to arrive in Q3 this year
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 will likely arrive at the same time, as did their predecessors. If that ends up being the case, we’re likely looking at the Q3 launch timeframe, August, most likely.
Samsung is the ultimate ruler of the global foldable smartphone market. That’s not surprising at all, as most other companies that announce their foldables are not selling them globally. Most of them are limited to China. Some examples are the OPPO Find N, HONOR Magic V, and the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold.
Things may change (at least slightly) this year, though, if those companies opt to expand the availability of their current and/or new foldables.
