After giving us only mid-range phones last year, Motorola is back in the flagship smartphone game. It recently released a slew of Motorola Edge phones to the market with good specs, and the company is not stopping. Thanks to 91Mobiles, we now have a rough roadmap for the next wave of Moto smartphones to land in 2022.

Motorola has been in a weird place over the last couple of years. The company was a heavy hitter in the smartphone game earlier on, but its fortunes waned as Samsung and Apple continued to take up more of the smartphone space. Now, it’s firmly in the #3 spot in the smartphone market. It trails behind those two companies, and it’s not because of its flagship phones.

The 2022 roadmap for the Motorola Edge phones has been revealed

While the company shied away from the flagship smartphone market last year, it’s bringing in some new premium phones this year. We recently reviewed the Motorola Edge+. That phone’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, has 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a bunch of other premium specs. But what’s next?

Thanks to the 2022 roadmap, we know about some more Motorola Edge phones to be excited about. For starters, we have the Motorola Edge (codenamed “Dubai”). This phone is rumored to launch as soon as next month. It’s expected to have a 6.55-inch 1080p+ POLED display that can run at 144Hz. There’s no intel on the SoC, but this phone is rumored to have 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/265GB of storage.

There might be a 50MP main camera on the back with a 32MP camera upfront. Keeping the lights on might be a 4,202mAh battery.

Next up, we have a more powerful version of that phone codenamed Dubai+. This phone will share most of the specs with the abovementioned Dubai. We do, however, have a hint at the processor. It looks like it will use a MediaTek processor. Also, it could have a 5,000mAh battery.

The next phone is codenamed “Miami”, and it will share some specs with the Dubai phones. It may have a 6.28-inch POLED display at 1080p+ resolution with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Also, this phone could have a 64MP main camera and a 4,020mAh battery.

The most premium phone is codenamed “Frontier”

Finishing out the 2020 roadmap is the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. It’s codenamed “Frontier”, and it could be a beast. It may have the rumored Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. This phone could have the curved display that we saw with the Motorola Edge 2020 version. That display is expected to be 6.67 inches. It’s expected to come with 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage.

One standout feature is the 200MP main camera that it’s rumored to have. We’ll have to wait and see if this phone will offer these features when it launches.
