Hearthstone is getting a new expansion on April 12, with players charting a course to the Sunken City. Voyage To The Sunken City is the official name of the next Hearthstone expansion, and it contains 135 new cards to throw into your deck as well as a brand-new story to follow along with.
Players will also get access to a brand-new minion type and two new keywords. With all of this new content, it’ll probably behoove anyone to take a long hard look at their decks and decide if changes are needed. As each new expansion has the potential to change the meta. And those changes could impact you for better or worse.
Blizzard’s announcement today about the new Hearthstone expansion was initially teased earlier this month. When Blizzard revealed details about the future of most of its games. Including Hearthstone, World Of Warcraft, Diablo, and an upcoming new mobile game in the Warcraft franchise. Which by the way will be revealed in May.
Voyage To The Sunken City Hearthstone expansion introduces Naga minions
The Naga are going to be Hearthstone’s newest minion type. Which means you may want to focus your deck on spell casting. Blizzard says that Naga minions will afford players a bonus to spells when Naga minion cards are in your hand.
So while your entire deck doesn’t have to revolve around spells, it won’t hurt to have a healthy collection of spell-focused cards. Naga minions are also being made a permanent addition to the game. So players will see more of them added in future content from here on out.
Don’t forget about the two new keywords
Additionally, players are getting access to two new potentially powerful keywords with this expansion – Colossal, and Dredge. Be on the lookout for minion cards that have the Colossal keyword. As this will add extra appendages that “synergize with the main body in powerful ways.”
These will also be summoned with the main body even if players don’t play the Colossal minion from the hand. With the Dredge keyword, players gain the ability to look at the bottom three cards of their deck, and then pick one to shift to the top. Giving the potential to get great cards earlier than normal if some of the best ones are at the bottom.
You can pre-purchase the new expansion now and doing so comes with some pretty sweet bonuses. Including 80 (yes, 80) Voyage To The Sunken City card packs. In addition, you also get 5 Golden Voyage To The Sunken City card packs, 2 random legendary cards from this expansion, the Queen Azshara mage hero skin, the Azshara card back, 5 Mercenaries packs, and Battlegrounds perks.
