There is a possibility that Samsung may ditch the hole punch for the Galaxy S23 series. Well, one tipster certainly hopes so. Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, has decided to envision the Galaxy S23 with an under-display camera, by removing the display camera hole.
Tipster envisions the Galaxy S23 & S23+ with an under-display camera
He took some images of the Galaxy S22 and S22+, it seems, and simply removed the display camera hole from them. Truth be said, that entirely changes the design of the two phones, they look excellent this way.
He also added some wallpapers on there, to spice things up. The bezels are almost non-existent, while the metallic frame really does blend well here. Samsung doesn’t even have to change the design of the Galaxy S23, only remove the hole punch.
We’re, of course, not sure if that will happen. The Galaxy S22 launched not long ago, and the information on the Galaxy S23 series is still not clear. Those phones are expected to arrive in the first quarter of next year.
There is a chance Samsung will hold onto the display camera hole. Or, alternatively, it may include an under-display camera on the ‘Ultra’ model only. We’ll have to wait and see.
It remains to be seen if Samsung will opt for an under-display camera next year
The under-display camera implementation on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 wasn’t the best. It wasn’t completely invisible, and the performance was not excellent. It seems like Samsung wants to get it just right before pushing it to the Galaxy S series.
That logic makes sense, no doubt about it. The hole punch is not the best solution, but Apple is still using rather large notches on its smartphones, so that hole punch doesn’t really look bad, at all.
You can check out the images from Ice Universe in the gallery down below. Enjoy these until the Galaxy S23 leaks start arriving. We’re probably months away from those, at least from any credible ones.
