An official trailer for DC League of Super-Pets has arrived. Following the pets of various crime-fighters in the DC Universe, the animated feature stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Krypto the Super-Dog, as has previously been announced. Kevin Hart co-stars as Ace the Bat-Hound, and as revealed in the new trailer, Keanu Reeves provides the voice of his owner, Batman, with the news coming just as The Batman arrives in theaters. You can watch the trailer below.

The synopsis reads: “Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the Super Heroes.”

If not for animation, we may never have heard Keanu Reeves utter the phrase, “I am the Batman.” The role is pretty well locked up in the live-action movies, with Ben Affleck handing the cape and cowl over to Michael Keaton in the DCEU and Robert Pattinson separately starring in The Batman. Bringing together Reeves with a slew of other A-list talent will certainly bring more attention to the animated feature ahead of its premiere in May.

Super Pets is a DC universe like we have never seen before and it is a fun POV into the DC universe through these incredible pets,” producer Hiram Garcia told Screen Rant. “When you’re able to start with the OG of superheroes like Superman’s dog, Krypto, and look into the superhero universe through the most powerful animal on the planet, it’s really fun. DJ did such an amazing job of bringing Krypto to life and then when you add in Kevin Hart you know you have something special.”

He added at the time, “Plus, we have such an incredible cast all around! What an amazing group of talent we have bringing these characters to life. I can’t say just yet who plays who, but I think for the fans they’re going to have a blast watching them all interact. I think most people understand there’s nothing like the relationship between you and your pet.”

DC League of Super-Pets will be released on May 20, 2022.
