The writing has been on the wall that the Galaxy Note brand is no more. Now, according to dailian.co.kr, we have official confirmation from Samsung that the Galaxy Note is dead. This means that the spirit of the Galaxy Note will live on in the S Ultra series.
Samsung confirms that the Galaxy Note is officially dead
Back in 2020, Samsung would launch the last true Galaxy Note phone, that Galaxy Note20 Ultra. We were all sad when the company didn’t launch one last year, and we wondered if the company’s attention on foldable phones was the culprit. Regardless, the company launched the Galaxy Note 22 Ultra, which is literally a Galaxy Note in every way.
There’s been a lot of speculation as to whether Samsung is going to bring the Note line back, but that speculation comes to an end. In an interview with Roh Tae-moon, the Head of Mobile Experience told Dailian that the Note line will live on as the S Ultra phones in the future. This move received a lot of mixed comments. Some people said that it’s a good move, while others said they’d prefer a separate Note line.
One is the Galaxy S22+
Samsung doing this does make some sense when it comes to having more streamlined launches. Why have a Galaxy S launch, a foldable launch, and a Note launch in the same year? Now, we can just have the two launches and be done with it.
However, we have an issue as far as the Galaxy S22+ is concerned. The best S phone was always reserved for people who wanted the full Galaxy experience but didn’t want to have the large screen or SPen. This means having all the RAM, storage, camera features, and screen resolution. However, the best Galaxy phone sans S Pen is the Galaxy S22+. It’s a good phone, but it’s capped at 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and it only has a 1080p+ display.
Those who enjoyed the best Galaxy S devices won’t be getting as good of an experience they’ve been getting all these years. That definitely feels like a punch to the stomach for those users. This looks like the road for Samsung phones from now on. Those who missed having a Note phone will be able to have them once again, they just can’t call it a Note anymore.
