Samsung has refreshed its Galaxy Book laptop lineup with six new Windows 11 models — Galaxy Book 2, Galaxy Book 2 Pro, Galaxy Book 2 Business, Galaxy Book 2 360, and Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360. The company unveiled the products during its MWC 2022 event on Sunday.
Galaxy Book 2 series specifications
Samsung’s latest laptop offerings include something for everyone. Starting with the two Pro models — Galaxy Book 2 Pro and Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360, they both come in two sizes each — 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch. We are talking about Super AMOLED displays with FHD resolution (1920×1080 pixels). The Korean firm promises 120% Color Volume (DCI-P3) and 500nits of brightness.
Under the hood, we have Intel’s 12th Gen processor in Core i5 and Core i7 CPU variants and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. Samsung also offers an external graphic option with the 15.6-inch Galaxy Book 2 Pro. Both models are available in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB LPDDR5 RAM options with up to 1TB of NVMe SSD storage.
Samsung is equipping the Galaxy Book 2 Pro and Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 with a 1080p front-facing camera with auto framing and dual-array microphones. We also get AKG-tuned dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. For connectivity, we have Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, one Thunderbolt 4 port, one USB Type-C port, one USB 3.2 port, a 3.5mm headphone/mic combo jack, and a micro SD slot. The 15.6-inch variant of the former also supports a nano-SIM card for 5G cellular connectivity.
Samsung is promising up to 21 hours of battery life on these laptops. The 13.3-inch variant features a 63Wh battery while the bigger one gets a 68Wh unit. Both support 65W charging with the bundled USB Type-C adaptor. Other highlights include Windows 11, backlit keyboard with a sizeable trackpad (3-row Numeric key on the 15.6-inch variant), fingerprint scanner on the power button, and features like Private Share, Bixby, Quick Share, SmartThings, Galaxy Book Smart Switch, and Second screen.
Price and availability
The main difference between the Galaxy Book 2 Pro and Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 is, well, the latter is a 360 model. It is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop that you can also use as a tablet. This device supports the S Pen. These added features make it a bit more expensive too.
The Galaxy Book 2 Pro comes in Silver and Graphite colors and starts at $1,050 for the 13.3-inch variant with Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. The Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360, meanwhile, also gets a Burgundy colorway and costs $1,250 for the base 13.3-inch variant with Core i7 CPU. Both models will be available for purchase in April.
We also have three more Galaxy Book 2 models
Along with the two Pro models we talked about above, Samsung has also announced the vanilla Galaxy Book 2, Galaxy Book 2 360, and Galaxy Book 2 Business. The former sports a 15.6-inch FHD screen with Intel’s 12th Gen processor under the hood. The company offers the laptop in Intel Core i3/Core i5/Core i7 CPU setup, with optional Intel ARC graphics. The device features 2TB of SSD storage as well as a 720p camera with auto framing. Ports include USB Type-C, USB 3.2, HDMI 1.4, headphone jack, and Micros SD. The Galaxy Book 2 supports 45W charging, Dolby Atmos audio, and an optional fingerprint scanner.
The Galaxy Book 2 360, meanwhile, comes only in 13.6-inch size with a Super AMOLED display. We have the same CPU setup here but with integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. The camera is unchanged but the fingerprint scanner now comes standard. Samsung also promises faster 65W charging and up to 18 hours of battery life.
Lastly, we have the Galaxy Book 2 Business targeted at business customers. It gets a 14-inch anti-glare FHD display with Core i3/Core i5 vPro/Core i7 vPro CPU setup. Samsung, however, has switched to an optional NVIDIA GeForce MX570 A graphics here. The device comes with up to 1TB of SSD storage. We also have Wi-Fi 6E, optional LTE connectivity, an IR camera with a physical shutter, an additional USB Type-A port, 65W charging, and Dolby Atmos audio here.
The Galaxy Book 2 starts at $750, Galaxy Book 2 360 at $900, and Galaxy Book 2 Business at $2,000. These devices will also go on sale in April.
