Samsung has rolled out the February 2022 Android security patch to most of its eligible devices over the past four weeks. Now, as the month draws close, the remaining few are joining the party too. Today, we have the Galaxy Tab Active 3 and the Galaxy A71 picking up the new security update. The Galaxy Tab S6 LTE and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G are also now receiving this month’s SMR (security maintenance release) in more regions.
Starting with the Galaxy Tab Active 3, the rugged Android tablet from 2020 is currently receiving the February SMR in several European countries. The new firmware version for this device is T575XXU3BVB1. This update should reach other territories in the coming days.
The Galaxy A71 is also receiving the new update in Europe as well as Asia. The premium mid-range smartphone from 2020 is picking up the new SMR with firmware version A715FXXU8BVA2 for the LTE variant. Its 5G counterpart should be joining the party soon as well.
Meanwhile, the February update for the Galaxy Tab S6 LTE has now reached the US market too. It is currently available to the carrier-locked variants on Sprint and T-Mobile’s networks with firmware version T867USQS7CVB1. Users on other networks, as well as those using unlocked Galaxy Tab S6 LTE units, can look forward to the update in the coming days. The new SMR should also soon be available to the 5G model of the 2019 flagship Android tablet from Samsung.
Lastly, we have the Galaxy Z Flip 5G now receiving the February security patch in Europe. The new firmware version for this device is F707BXXU6FVA9. The clamshell foldable has already picked up the latest update in the US.
Samsung has already released the March security update
Samsung may have yet to finish seeding the February SMR to all eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets but it has already released next month’s patch. After all, it has now become customary for the Korean behemoth to begin the rollout of a new SMR before the current month ends. The Galaxy S22 devices are the beneficiaries this time around. More devices should join the party in the coming days and weeks.
We don’t yet have details of the March 2022 SMR. But as far as the February patch is concerned, it brings fixes for over 60 vulnerabilities, with the majority coming from Google. There are fixes for some Samsung-exclusive flaws as well. We will let you know about the content of the March SMR as soon as we have the information.
