An ally who’d “take a bullet” for Trump just turned on him.

Donald Trump happily accepting a $400m “flying palace” Boeing 747-8 from the Qatari royal family is the most nakedly corrupt bribe of a president in American history. This plan will become Air Force One until the end of Trump’s presidency, after which point it will become his personal jet.

Condemnation has erupted from all sides of the political aisle, with even Trump’s usual allies critical of him. Trump is now on the defensive, taking to Truth Social to argue that this is a way to save money and prevent the United States from having to pay for Air Force One’s replacement. Nobody’s buying it.

And by nobody, I mean nobody. Laura Loomer – Trump’s fiercest cheerleader and arguably his most influential confidant – has taken to X to say he’s let her down. In a post that opens with “I love President Trump” and underlines that she would “take a bullet for him”, she goes on to say “We cannot accept a $400 million “gift” from jihadists in suits”.

Loomer then links the Qatari royal family to Hamas and Hezbollah, making the rather tenuous link that this also feeds into Mexican cartel activity. She underlines that accepting this gift would be a “strain on the admit” and concludes, “I’m so disappointed”. Trump, dude, if you’ve lost Loomer – Loomer – you’ve screwed up bad!

Incredibly, the full story of what’s going on with this jet reeks of even deeper corruption. Attorney General Pam Bondi has been paid $1.38 million to lobby Congress on behalf of Qatar. Guess who decided that it’s “legally permissible” for Trump to accept this gift from Qatar. You guessed it, Pam Bondi:

If there are any conflicted MAGA supporters out there having a moment of cognitive dissonance as Trump does something so nakedly corrupt, but you still want to support him, imagine this. A decade ago, Barack Obama announced he’s accepting this same $400 million gift from the Qatari royal family. In the face of massive criticism, he handwaves it away as no big deal, even as he confirms he’s not transferring it to the nation at the end of his term and will keep it for his personal use.

Would you think that was outrageous? Would that be tearing up the dignity of the presidency? Would you think Obama had opened himself up to clear and obvious foreign influence? You already know the answers and whatever other political positions you have, you know this is corruption through and through.
