“The British monarchy is a life threatening danger to Harry.”
Many had questioned Prince Harry’s silence post his explosive Oprah Winfrey interview and his controversial book, Spare, which aired the Royals’ dirty laundry and level allegations of injustice and partiality against King Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. Turns out the duke was holding back damning secrets in hopes of reconciling with his father. But with that possibility out of the window and his father’s crass response, Harry has thrown open the floodgates.
After his emotional BBC interview, in which he confirmed rumors that Charles had abandoned him and wouldn’t speak to his youngest son, Harry issued a lengthy and frankly, eyebrow-raising statement that did nothing to fix the Royals’ reputation. If anything, it has cast Charles and many other prominent figures into a controversial light, since their role was ensuring that the duke and his family were exposed to harm.
“This legal action has been a last resort, but one that has uncovered shocking truths, starting with the fact that the Royal Household are key decision-makers on RAVEC and my sole representation for matters regarding my safety. In this process, I’ve also learned the names of all those involved, many of whom retired immediately after playing their part.”
As per the procedure via which the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) decides who receives state-funded protective security – including members of the Royal Family, government officials, and other public figures at risk – rests on a thorough analyzation of risk the concerned individual faces by Risk Management Board (RMB) Consultation. But in Harry’s case, RAVEC opted for a “bespoke” assessment without RMB input – a revelation that was made in the court’s ruling, thus confirming that it “failed to follow its own mandated processes” for Harry, when it’s mandatory application is observed in the evaluation of other high-risk and high-profile individuals.
Did Charles and William have a hand in this deviation from due process? Harry’s findings certainly say so. What makes this even more cruel is the duke’s revelation that this “secretive committee” was the one that decided back in 2017 that Meghan should not be given protection when she married into the Royal family. At the time, Harry didn’t know that members of his family were part of the organization, and he didn’t prod further as the decision was reversed when he made enough noise.
But now, the truth is out.
“To this present day, the Royal Household remain my sole representation on RAVEC for every visit and could call for this assessment to be done at any point. The only possible conclusion that can be drawn is they choose not to, because they know the outcome would prove that my security should never have been removed in the first place.”
Even though the U.K. court has repealed his case, Harry is not done fighting and will be writing to the Home Secretary “to ask her to urgently examine the matter and review the RAVEC process.”
He alleged that he and his family have been the target of “Neo-nazi and extremist threats, including from Al-Qaeda” and despite this, the title he was born into, and his two tours in Afghanistan, his family’s safety was “knowingly put at risk.”
Now that Harry is talking, he is not holding himself back.
He pointed his fingers at the “same institutions that preyed upon my mother” – aka the British royal household, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC), and segments of the U.K. media. – for campaigning “for the removal of our security, and that continue to incite hatred towards me, my wife and even our children, while at the same time protecting the very power that they should be holding accountable.”
At this point, Harry seems to have given up on ever reuniting with his father as he ends his statement by only revisiting his two of his three reasons for seeking to reinstate his family’s former security – for his children to know “the beauty of my homeland” and to continue his charitable work in the country without fear.
