Alec Baldwin ‘disrespected’ Hilaria Baldwin, pushing her to take off her wedding ring and get ‘ready to walk’ away

Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin have been married since 2012, and that’s a fairly long time when talking about Hollywood, where most celebrity couples do not survive the seven-year itch. However, it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows for the Baldwins, especially for Hilaria, who was nearly done playing the part of being the actor’s devoted wife three years into their marriage. It was so bad that she even contemplated leaving her husband.

In her upcoming memoir, Manual Not Included, the 41-year-old former yoga instructor reveals the most volatile period in her marriage to the 67-year-old actor. According to Hilaria, it happened around the birth of their second child, Rafael, in June 2015. Alec was so devoted to his work at the time that she felt “disrespected.”

Even during her labor, her husband was glued to his emails; he also immediately left for work after she gave birth to their son. The move sparked serious conflict, and she seriously considered ending their marriage. “It really pissed me off, and I didn’t hesitate to tell him so,” Hilaria recalls in an excerpt of her book obtained by The Sun. “I was so focused on how I thought things should be, and Alec was so set in his ways. Neither one of us would budge.”

Looking back, Hilaria considers it the “rockiest” phase of their marriage, where, along with their clashing routines, she was left juggling a newborn, a toddler — daughter Carmen Gabriela, who was born in 2013 — and their pet dogs on her own in New York while Alec was traveling for work. The emotional distance grew so intense that she made a dramatic resolve: “I took my rings off as a sign that I was potentially ready to walk.”

At the time when their relationship was on the brink of collapse, Hilaria says in her book that they were already heading for divorce. However, the pair ultimately chose to pause everything and reevaluate their marriage. The Sun did not spoil how they repaired their marriage, but fans can learn more about it when Manual Not Included hits shelves on Tuesday, May 6.

What’s known for now is that the Baldwins renewed their vows in 2017 for their fifth wedding anniversary. Before the Hamptons ceremony, Alec told Hilaria (via Page Six), “I need reassurance. I need to know I still got you there. I need to know you’re not going anywhere.” Hilaria responded, “Once you get married, you’re done. But it’s really good to say, ‘Hey, I’m still in this.’”

About 13 years after they tied the knot, Alec and Hilaria are now parents to seven children: Carmen (11), Rafael (9), Leonardo (8), Romeo (6), Eduardo (4), Maria (4), and Ilaria (2). Alec also has a daughter, Ireland (29), with ex-wife Kim Basinger. Their family currently stars in their own TLC reality show, The Baldwins, which premiered in February.

Aside from their almost-breakup, Hilaria details many other things about their relationship in her upcoming memoir, including how she chose to stand by Alec’s side during his recent brush with the law following the tragic shooting incident on the set of his movie, Rust, which resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
