So, if you’re wondering whether the Samsung Galaxy S22 series phones in your region will get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200, you’re in luck. The Galaxy S22 series chipset distribution details have just surfaced.

The Galaxy S22 series chipset distribution details are in, and they’re quite interesting

Those of you who live in the US already know that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is included. That’s not the only region with that SoC, not even close. In addition to North America in general, South Korea, Australia, India, South Africa, and the UAE are all getting that chip.

In the Exynos 2200 corner sit only Europe and the United Kingdom. Things have changed quite a bit in comparison to previous years. Pretty much every region except the US and South Korea go the Exynos variant before. That’s not the case anymore.

Samsung’s Exynos flagship SoCs usually end up being inferior to Qualcomm’s. It’s too early to tell what’s the case this year, but there you have it. Both chips are quite powerful on paper, though, both are made using a 4nm process as well.

Both chips actually have octa-core SoCs with a Cortex-X2 performance core, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores. That being said, they do come with different GPUs, and various other hardware differences.

Photos coming out of the Galaxy S smartphones also end up looking different when different chips are included, due to image processing. That was certainly the case with the Galaxy S21 series.

It remains to be seen how will the two different SoCs stack up this time around. The Galaxy S22 series officially launched two days ago, so it’s way too early to make any sort of conclusions in that regard.

It’s worth noting that we’ve received the devices, and have started testing them. Do note that we have Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 models, though.
