A while back, a rumor surfaced that Xiaomi is working on a truly compact, high-end phone. That device was said to be a member of the Xiaomi 12 family. Well, the Xiaomi 12 Mini, or whatever Xiaomi ends up calling it, just surfaced in an image.
First and foremost, let’s just say that you should take this leak with a grain of salt. It’s not that there are any special red flags here, but we didn’t hear much about the device.
The Xiaomi 12 Mini image just leaked, showing Xiaomi’s alleged tiny flagship
In any case, if you take a look at the image below, you’ll see the device in question. Only its back design leaked, though. This phone allegedly has a display that is smaller than 6 inches, which would put it in that compact sector.
If it ever launches, this phone could be a direct competitor to the ASUS ZenFone 8, and the iPhone 13 Mini. Those are essentially two resident high-end compact phones, in the Android and iOS worlds.
As you can see, the device has three cameras on the back, which are vertically-aligned. That setup looks to be different than what other Xiaomi 12 phones offer, at least considering the way it looks.
Xiaomi’s logo is also visible on the back, and buttons are not shown here. This looks to be a sketch image, to a degree, and not an actual official render that leaked. That’s another reason why you should take it with a grain of salt.
The device is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 870 SoC
The Xiaomi 12 Mini is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 870 SoC, just like the Xiaomi 12X. An AMOLED display is also tipped, and as we mentioned earlier, it’s expected to be smaller than 6 inches.
That display will almost certainly be flat, though we’ll have to wait and see. That’s pretty much everything that is known about the phone. We didn’t really get much information about it, and it has been talked about for a couple of months now.
If Xiaomi plans to announce this phone, we really don’t know when will that happen. It is possible the device may arrive alongside other Xiaomi 12 phones to the global market, even though that’s not as likely. Perhaps it will launch later this year.
