It seems like over 10 million modern Pixel phones are in use as we speak. One of Google’s apps confirmed this, and the information was relayed by 9to5Google. The app in question is the Security Hub app.
It seems like over 10 million modern Pixel phones are in use at the moment
How does it confirm it? Well, the Security Hub application was introduced on the Pixel 6, and rolled out to more Pixel phones after that. The app has over 10 million installs at the moment, hinting at the number of phones out there. Yes, this app is Pixel-exclusive.
This update started rolling out to more Pixel phones in late October. It is officially available for the Pixel 4, 4 XL, 4a, 4a 5G, 5, 5a, 6, and 6 Pro smartphones running Android 12.
The application counted 5+ million downloads in November 2021, while the listing has been updated on Thursday, as the downloads crossed the 10 million mark.
Needless to say, this is not the best point of reference. It is all we have at the moment, though. Google doesn’t share its official sales number, or anything of the sort, so this is all we have.
The Pixel 6 & 6 Pro have helped Google break its quarterly sales record
Well, Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, did say recently that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro helped break Google’s quarterly sales record. So, it seems like the phones are selling well for the company. Still, no specific numbers were shared.
Google is not selling as many smartphones as some other Android OEMs, but things seem to be improving. The company made some significant changes with the Pixel 6 series. Not only did it revamp the design entirely, to make them eye-catching and easy to recognize, but it also finally updated the same setup.
On top of all that, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are the first handsets from the company to feature Google’s very own SoC. The company included the Google Tensor processor inside of both phones.
The upcoming Pixel 6a handset is also tipped to include the Google Tensor SoC, by the way. That device is not expected to launch until mid-year.
