The Fenix 7S Pro has loads of features that cater to more serious athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, including multi-band GPS and solar power charging for those times when you’ll be out longer. Like all of Garnin’s Fenix series watches, the Fenix 7S Pro is designed with military-grade durability, so a ding against a rock wall or a tumble to the ground, if it happens to fall off your wrist, isn’t going to hurt it. Provided that tumble is from a reasonable height.
It also has a 10ATM rating, which gives it a high degree of water resistance. The most common form of this kind of tracker is a smart ring, and if you want something that’s more discrete and less intrusive, then a smart ring is definitely what you should go for. The question is, which smart ring should you go for? Our pick for the best non-wrist tracker is the RingConn Gen 2.
We really like the Galaxy Ring but with a higher cost, the RingConn Gen 2 is a better option because it offers a lot of the same capabilities and it even has some features the Galaxy Ring doesn’t. Specifically, Sleep Apnea monitoring. While this might not be useful for some, it’s a nice addition to the RingConn Gen 2 if you’re worried about whether or not you may have Sleep Apnea.
We found that the RingConn Gen 2 has 8 to 10 days of battery life, so it lasts a while between charges, and it’s available in several sizes. That should make it easy for just about anyone to find a size that fits their finger. There are some downsides compared to other smart ring options. For example, it only comes in three finishes. Black, Silver, and Gold. If you want more options, such as those offered by the Oura Ring 4, then this might not be the best choice.
The Oura Ring 4 also gives you more metrics and data to look at in the app, but it also costs $399. So you’ll need to decide whether you want more of that data and if you’re ok with the higher price. Speaking of cost, the RingConn Gen 2 doesn’t have a subscription tied to its features. With no monthly fee, you’re paying less money overall than you would for something like the Oura Ring 4. It has pretty decent battery life for a smartwatch running on Wear OS, and we typically ended up getting two full days out of it before needing to place it back on the charger. Sometimes, two and half days during lighter use.
As for features, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is a lot like the Galaxy Watch 7, but it has the added benefits of the higher durability thanks to the use of Titanium for the watch case, and it has the Quick Action button for quickly launching into certain apps or functions. It features a large, 47mm display that makes all your data easy to see and it comes in an LTE model only, so you’ll always have the watch connected, unless there isn’t any cell service where you are.
Samsung also added a new BioActive sensor to improve the accuracy of the health metrics. On some of its past watches, the accuracy of these metrics left a little to be desired. The Galaxy Watch Ultra greatly improves this, making it easier to trust what the data is telling you after you use the watch during various activities. It also now has Dual-Band GPS, which is something the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro didn’t offer.
This means the GPS will be more accurate and that can be a huge benefit if you like heading out on hiking trails.
