Apple announced its new iPhone quite recently. The iPhone 16e arrived as a spiritual successor of the iPhone SE 3. With that being said, the iPhone 16e ended up in the hands of folks over at iFixit, and the phone received a respectable repairability score.

The iPhone 16e managed to get a respectable repairability score

Some repairability features from other iPhones made it to this model, as it scored 7 out of 10 repairability score. The source notes that it’s got electrically released adhesive and no parts pairing, thanks to Right to Repair laws in the US.

Apple has also released a repair procedure for the charging port, for the first time ever. That happened thanks to laws in Europe.

Thanks to the electrically released adhesive, removing the battery is not that difficult. The charging is less efficient thanks to the exclusion of MagSafe, that’s also something iFixit tested during the teardown.

On the flip side, the iPhone 16e’s slower charging, yes, it’s also slower in addition to not supporting MagSafe, will make for slightly lower degradation of the battery. That is not all that significant, as MagSafe doesn’t exactly offer blazing-fast charging that would raise the temperature.

This teardown will also give you a look at Apple’s very first in-house modem, the C1. It is here to replace Qualcomm’s SDX71M modem. The company also notes that the lack of a home button (which was included on the iPhone SE 3), is “probably a repairability win”.

The Apple iPhone 16e is already available to purchase across the globe. Its pricing starts at $599, but it will differ in other parts of the world. It’s not exactly cheap, but it is the cheapest iPhone in the iPhone 16 series.
