Puzzle Cracked: Google I/O will take place May 20-21

Google has announced that Google I/O 2025 will take place May 20-21. This is the company’s annual developer conference where they announce new products and services. As well as updating current products. Google I/O 2024 was heavily AI focused.

Google has just started the hype for Google I/O 2025, the same way they do every year. With a puzzle that will unveil the dates for Google I/O. Typically, Google I/O is the second week of May, so we’re expecting it to be the week of May 12, but once this puzzle is solved, we will know for sure what the date of Google I/O is this year.

The ‘Prism Shift’ puzzle, in which Google says that you need to “Guide, reflect and split beams of light to illuminate beacons” which will then reveal the date of Google I/O 2025.

Typically, once people start solving the puzzle, Google will go ahead and announce the date. So that should happen within the next few hours.

The Google I/O date has been unveiled. It’s surprisingly a week later this year than usual. So we’re looking at May 20 and May 21. Typically, Google will have Google I/O taking place the second week of May, so we were expecting the week of May 12. And considering Google has been moving up the cycle of its phones and software releases, we thought Google I/O might move up as well.

We expect that Google I/O will once again emanate from the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. This is right next to the Googleplex, and where Google has held the conference for almost a decade now.

Last year at Google I/O, the company spent almost two hours talking about AI in its opening keynote. We’re expecting much of the same this year, given how important AI is for Google and other companies these days. Google is facing some stiff competition with AI right now, from the likes of xAI, OpenAI, Apple, Amazon and many other companies. We expect to see a mention of Android 16, and that’ll likely be it for Android in the keynote. As the Pixel 9a is being launched in March, and the final version of Android 16 is launching just two weeks later on June 3.
