OPPO could bring 160W charging to its smartphones in not so distant future. It seems like the company has certified a 160W charger in China, over at China’s 3C authority, confirmed Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster.

The charger is marked as ‘VCK8HACH’, and it supports 20V/8A charging up to 160W. That being said, the company’s current flagship, the OPPO Find X3 Pro, supports 65W wired fast charging.

OPPO could bring 160W charging to its phones following 80W charging

The OPPO Find X5 Pro, a device that is expected to land in a couple of months, will offer support for 80W fast wired charging, allegedly. Well, it seems like OPPO is looking to double that down the line.

We don’t know when exactly will this charging make its way to the company’s smartphones. It’s possible OPPO may announce a device later this year with support for 160W charging, or we may have to wait until 2023.

Having that in mind, the company’s SuperVOOC 65W fast wired charging can charge up the phone from 0 to 40-percent in only 10 minutes. It takes is only 80 minutes to get from 0 to 100-percent.

That, on its own, is extremely fast, needless to say. 80W charging will boost things quite a bit, and 160W charging will charge up the phone in no time. OPPO will likely boost wireless charging speeds as well, soon.

It remains to be seen if we’ll see a similar boost for wireless charging

The OPPO Find X3 Pro supports 30W fast wireless charging. The OPPO Find X5 Pro could boost that to 50W. It remains to be seen if a similar boost will occur down the line, alongside 160W wired charging, but it’s likely.

Some companies are really pushing charging speeds forward. Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus… and some other companies have been really great at it. Both Apple and Samsung are still not bothered by doing the same.

OPPO may even talk about its 160W charging in the near future, it remains to be seen. The company tends to share its charging advances with the public every once in a while.
