The XGIMI Ascend looks like something right out of the future, and it lit up CES.
At CES, we’ve seen all kinds of displays being showcased, but XGIMI showed off something that pretty much stole the show. This is a company that makes some rather amazing projectors, and it came out with an amazing screen that pairs perfectly with its AURA 2. The XGIMI Ascend is a massive 100-inch screen that actually rises and drops. This is where the name “Ascend” comes from.
The XGIMI Ascend is motorized, the screen rises to occasion
This device is motorized, so you’ll see the screen rise once you activate it. Aside from being innovative, it’s just a sight to behold. It looks like something you’d see in a futuristic sci-fi movie. The only thing to know is that the screen doesn’t go down all of the way. It will lower itself to about 1/3 of its full height. That’s not a bad thing, as you’ll be able to lower it and put content on the lower part of the screen like footage of a fireplace. This is something that could be interesting to have in the winter.
The motorized mechanism isn’t the only thing that makes this screen look good. XGIMI used a technology called ALR (Ambient Light Rejection) technology. This ensures that you’re getting the most crisp and good-looking picture when you’re watching content.
It’s just a concept for now, though
If the XGIMI Ascend looks like something that you’d want to get your hands on, you’d be disappointed to know that it’s just a concept. The company is showing it off, but it’s still working on the core technology. We don’t know when the company plans to bring it to the market. Hopefully, it’s sooner rather than later because this looks like an incredible device.
You can buy the XGIMI AURA 2, however. This $2,699 projector has a 4K resolution, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a peak brightness of 2,300 lumens, and other premium features.
For its innovative design and overall futuristic look, the XGIMI Ascend has gained the Android Headlines award for Best of CES
